Harmony Hollow AZ

In the heart of the Spur Cross Conservation Area, Harmony Hollow rests quietly in the wide embrace of the Sonoran Desert. Once the home of Jeffrey Cross’s artist’s vision, its walls and studio have been lovingly restored, honoring the spirit that first shaped them. Here, the wild landscape is protected, the air carries the scent of creosote after rain, and creativity lingers like a soft echo. Harmony Hollow is not just a place, it is a living conversation between art, history, and the land that holds them both.

What's happening at Harmony Hollow

Follow our adventures as Harmony Hollow continues to evolve. We tend to the land with care, restoring the old house and bringing the gardens back to life. Our days are filled with honoring the desert’s rhythms, wandering the property, uncovering relics from times past, and listening to the quiet wisdom of nature. We share the story of this place with our community, weaving together its history, the artists who called it home, and the enduring beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

Who we are

We never set out to be conservationists, but the desert had other plans for us.

We’ve called Cave Creek home since 2000, and in 2020 we felt a pull we couldn’t ignore, a call to save Harmony Hollow from disappearing beneath development.

For Steve, an IT specialist and musician, the land took root in his heart. Its history revealed itself in layers, and he found himself speaking for it, sharing its story so it wouldn’t be forgotten.

For Lori, an artist, it was love at first sight. The moment she stepped inside the old house, she felt its spirit, even as she was warned not to step onto the crumbling balcony. She could hear the echoes of the artists and visitors who came before them, asking for the place to be revived, for its voice to be heard again.

Why we do this

We are caretakers of a small piece of the Sonoran Desert, bound by a love for its beauty, history, and quiet resilience. Harmony Hollow is our home, our project, and our promise: to preserve the land, honor its past, and keep the spirit of creativity alive within its restored walls. This is a personal journey, rooted in respect for what was here before us and hope for what it will become.
