Things We’re Saving at Harmony Hollow

Aside from the obvious saving the land from being developed with multiple homes we’ve been working on removing and saving some of the built-in touches that are part of the design of the house.

This stained glass window is wrapped and stored. I envision it framed and hanging in a window somewhere. We aren’t sure who made it. Melissa Paxton informed us that all of the art at Harmony Hollow was made by Richard Mocco, but she didn’t mention the stained glass. There are two other panels in this same style.

One of our most favorite parts of the interior are the brands that are all over the beams and walls. My imagination runs wild with how things like this came about and I need to get to the bottom of it!

Initially we wanted to save all of the wood on the inside and outside of the house but found that much of it was too brittle to reclaim. We were able to salvage some pieces.

It also didn’t make sense to rebuild with wood on the outside due to fire risk in the middle of the conservation area. But, we’ll find an interesting way to incorporate it, and honor the history.
