Tree Farm at Harmony Hollow

Harmony Hollow has been home to many things over the years including a tree farm back in the early 80s.

So if you’re ever wandering the grounds and come up on random irrigation hoses and spigots that’s one explanation.

Unfortunately, even though Syrian Christmas trees should be able to grow in the Sonoran Desert, they didn’t make it.

Can you imagine a grove of Christmas trees at the Hollow?

After that they tried Ironwood trees, which did much better, but I think it was the business design that didn’t quite take off.

We hope to revegetate with indigenous species some day and Steve dreams of Ironwoods back in the area.

It feels like I end every post with “So much to do!” I should probably just add that to the site’s by-line. We will definitely have plenty to do, and dream about, if we ever retire.
